What is a double elimination tournament with 32 teams?
In a double elimination tournament a team is only out after two losses. All 32 teams start together in the winners bracket; whoever loses there drops into the losers bracket and can fight their way back up. The undefeated winners bracket champion meets the best team from the losers bracket in the Grand Final – and if the champion loses that first final, a decisive reset match follows, because they too need two losses to be eliminated. As a result 32 teams play a total of 63 matches – almost twice as many as in a single knockout, but the outcome is far more meaningful and a single off day doesn't end your run.

What is a double elimination with 32 teams good for?
Double elimination is the fair alternative to a single knockout: because every team is only out after two losses, one weak game doesn't decide the whole tournament. That makes the format ideal for ambitious competitions with high fairness demands – such as darts, table tennis, beer pong or esports. With 32 teams you get an exciting bracket with a second chance and a truly deserving winner.
